Project objectives:
The aim of the project was to define a strategy proposal for the mobility of people and goods in this ‘city of the future’ in order to contribute to the development of a unified approach across the entire project scope. The complexity of this project lies in the necessity of creating a proposal that maximizes sustainability in transportation systems, eliminating the use of energy sources tied to the use of fossil fuels while ensuring efficiency, feasibility, and sustainability. Moreover, the proposed infrastructure and services for horizontal and vertical mobility had to be perfectly aligned with the proposals of those responsible for other disciplines, starting with structures and architecture, and extending to landscape, safety, and services.
Output:
- Mobility master plan to align the proposed strategy with the regional transportation system and its possible future evolution.
- Detailed estimates of mobility demand for passengers and freight.
- Traffic simulation analysis to assess the estimated modal split and define the required capacity of all transport systems.
- Detailed definition of geometric and functional characteristics of mobility infrastructure for horizontal and vertical passenger and freight mobility.
- Preliminary design of infrastructure and services, including, “road” hierarchy, ITS and technological solutions.
