Project objectives:
The consultancy involved the development of all specialized activities necessary to support the improvement of the algorithms used to calculate flood risk in the Tagliamento River Basin. More specifically, the project objectives focused on estimating the conditions that could arise in the event of a flood and defining the optimal intervention strategy for securing the population and organizing relief throughout the area. To this end, a meso-scale simulation model was built for the entire area subject to potential flooding.
Output:
- Comprehensive knowledge framework of the area’s transportation systems, including infrastructure, services and mobility demand in the fall and summer periods.
- Simulation model extended to the entire Tagliamento River basin.
- Estimation of the conditions of the transportation systems and their performance in each of the potential flood scenarios
- Definition of intervention strategies in the hypothetical flood scenarios.
