Project objectives:
The study aimed to conduct a detailed analysis of the performance of the access network to the Malpensa Cargo area, considering its major development and enhancement projects. As part of the study, the necessary activities were designed and implemented to define the current state of the transportation systems and calibrate a simulation model on both a large (meso) and local (micro) scale. Based on the available data and procedures developed for the study, an estimate of the demand in the project scenario was made, and the performance of each infrastructure component (arches, nodes, and parking areas) was thoroughly evaluated.
Output:
- Context analysis.
- Characterization of current transportation supply and mobility demand.
- Performance analysis of the current network using meso-micro simulation software.
- Estimation of mobility demand in the project scenario.
- Traffic Modeling analysis of network performance in the study and intervention areas, in the project scenario.
- Preparation of a technical report complete with indications regarding potential interventions to further improve network performance, limiting any potential criticality induced.
